Bye Big Bud!
Do note the bandaid on the chin. We had a little incident while 3.5 miles and 1,000 feet down in a gorge on Father's Day. It required five stitches, but I'll write more on that later.
When I've stopped being sad.
Bye Big Bud.

Floatin'
Yesterday we floated down an 8-mile stretch of Shoal Creek, which was loverly. There were several rope swings (always an important find) and some decent-sized fish, which no one caught.
I was set up in a Queen-like position on the front of the canoe, where I did about zero paddling. Chris had the kayak and John floated on his tube, which was attached to the back of one of the boats (alternating, according to his whims).
Today, we're recovering.

Happy Saturday!

This week
It's been a busy week:
FRIENDS!
CARDS GAMES!
Yes, it's hanging on the wall.
He will neither wear them nor take them down.
Tomorrow: An 8-mile canoe float for which I bought a special padded fat-girl seat.
The End.

The Guys
The boys have been having a blast. Friday night soccer game, Saturday night baseball & fireworks, Sunday bike riding and cookie baking, and today they’re tubing down the Elk River after breakfasting at the Waffle House (where a prize Firefighter Jet was left near the condiment rack).
Note the facial expression which denotes the possibility of having eaten too much.
Gone.
Also, John learned how to use the weedwhacker. The real one. No, I was not there. Yes, he nearly eradicated my pepper plants. While Brian cheered him on.
Oh well, who really needs nine pepper plants?
Meanwhile … back in the dungeon (formerly known as our bedroom/bathroom) …
I am writhing on the bed. I have somehow contracted the second horrendous virus of my 18-week pregnancy. The first one seemed like a toned-down version of the Swine Flu. This most recent one has been more like CHOLERA. So, while the boys were enjoying themselves immensely at various venues, I have been running back and forth from the bed to the bathroom.
But, it could be worse. Right? Right.
Happy Monday.

We didn't really celebrate at Waffle House (and other things of late).
Just to put all of your minds at ease, we actually went out for a nice dinner at one of our favorite local places, where we decided that the food is really not all that good (unlike Waffle House, where it is usually pretty consistently delicious). Not that I have any regrets, I'm just sayin.
Here are some local happenings:
Chris is here! He's already sleeping on the couch and it's not even 7 p.m. I estimate he has received 23,087 text messages since arrival.
I'm 17 weeks pregnant. Goodbye afternoon sickness. Hello backache.
John and Brian returned from a fishing trip up north, where John caught 20 fish with a Spiderman fishing pole. In the picture below, he is decked out in his "All about fish" glow in the dark t-shirt, and his "Musky Hunter" hat. He loves posing.
For the aforementioned and much talked about 8th anniversary, we got a babysitter (Miss Anna), and they had a Lincoln Log fiesta. When we got home, this is how we found him: all lights on in his room, him sacked out on the bed, his Lincoln Log castle in mid-floor.
Upon his awakening, he announced that the castle has "binoculars" -- note the two diagonal things on the lower left.
Below are some cool pics from Milwaukee (also a part of the fishing trip): Thanks Nanny!
Making brownies with Grampy.
At the races.
Zoom. Fast as a jet. (he says)
And now ... I'll leave you with a smile ...
