Memorial Day 2009

The Paternals came for one of their quick & famous weekend visits where they drive like mad from the Northland and treat us to meals, ice cream, and, in some cases, toys.

After they left, we spent the actual holiday as just an immediate family. We had a relaxing morning and then after naps, we went to a local park for some fountain fun:

As you can see, most of this fun involved treating the fountains like a bidet.

(Not that there's anything wrong with it.)

From Swim Coach ...

Got this in an email yesterday:

With John's final SwimAmerica lesson scheduled for tomorrow (May 11th), I wanted to touch base and let you know what a great session he has had! He has really become a "big boy" in station 4 and is making good progress toward graduating to Station 5. He is very comfortable in the water now and seems happy to fully participate in the lesson. He continues to be a favorite of the instructors with his funny wit and outgoing personality! I know that you said he would not be coming this summer and we will really miss him! I hope John will return in the fall!

Her flattery worked, and we've signed him up for summer too! We just couldn't resist after watching him practicing a freestyle stroke tonight in class! Brian and I were in the bleachers cheering as if we were the parents of Michael Phelps (before the drug use incident). I was so, so proud of him flapping around in the water just like the little future Olympian that we all know he is!

And have I ever used that many exclamation points in one blog post?!?!?

Must be the hormones.

And it's perfectly timed to coincide with the 13th week of my second pregnancy -- how fortuitous!

Now I think I'll go eat some Kit Kats dipped in butter.
