Lil' Wayne

As in Gretzky.

I see a lot of potential, but maybe it's just me:

Happy Weekend!

Things of late ...

  1. Tuesday: The guys made me carrot cake cupcakes for my birthday (note orange batter below).
  2. Wednesday: My 32nd. The best part of the whole day was when Brother, Little Bitty, Husband, and The Goose sang me the birthday song and Little Bitty pointed at me everytime she said, "YOU!"
  3. Last night: We slept approximately 2 hours because of the all the coughing.
  4. Today: Everybody in our house went to the doctor. Brian -- bronchitis; John -- nothing yet, but his ears and lungs are working on something; Kim -- another pre-cancerous spot (thank you, Flagstaff high altitude).
  5. Today, on the way home from the playground, which was a reward for good behavior during my biopsy: John asked me why I don't ever run out of love, and I could honestly answer that I have no idea, given that I haven't really slept in 4 years.
  6. Earlier tonight, during his nebulizer treatment: John became concerned about a scallop in his Jr. National Geographic: Do his eyes look frustrated? Is he able to move? Where's his pearl? How do you think he feels, Mom?
  7. About 6ish p.m.: Bronchitis boy made spaghetti for dinner.
  8. Now: Coughing coming from the kid's room.
  9. Later tonight: More notsleeping.

TGIF tomorrow.

Like Mother, Like Son

Seems The Bruce is suffering my same fate this winter. Brian and Jane are just alike in their energy-saving tendencies. At least I'm not alone.

My Early Birthday Present

This is what happens if you complain that it's too cold in your house. It might be the environmental thing to do, but it sure ain't cute.

Single Digits

Nothing in this post has anything to do with this picture, which is simply to display a fun New Year's Eve reading time with N & G in The Goose's new room.

It is so cold here that they closed the schools. People. The low tonight is supposed to be 3. Wind chill tomorrow morning: -9. For crying out loud: This is Tennessee!

Husband seems to think that all of this hullaballoo is perfectly ridiculous, but it makes sense to me. Tennesseans do not have the kind of outterwear that is required for this weather. Hence, it's a danger to school children.

In other news, our new niece/cousin, LJ is still in the hospital working on keeping her temperature up. Her Mama is home and trying to balance life with a toddler while pumping and running back and forth to the hospital. Not something I envy, but we're so glad to have a little girl in the fam.

Today was my first day with students. It was relatively uneventful for which I am eternally grateful. After teaching 9th graders for a couple years, the calm of adult ed is infinitely refreshing and relieving.

Not much other news, so I'll leave you with an "Overheard in the Car While Listening to a Brad Paisley CD" snippet:

K (to B): "I don't think that "Alcohol" song is appropriate for preschool ears."
B (to K): "Which one should I change it to?"
J: "Put it on the "Wah-Wah" song!"
K: "It's #4 -- he likes that one."
Brad: "If I lose my better judgment/And take up smokin' crack/Right then, that's when, I'll take you back."
K: "See? Told you it was more age appropriate."

OUSB,

Fun with Multi-Colored Rubber Pencil Grippers

The economic downturn has really taken a toll: We've been reduced to playing with completely unnecessary office supplies.

LUCY JANE

Posted by Picasa

We have a niece!

We welcome Lucy Jane to the world! She was born last night at 5 pounds and 18 inches and several weeks early. Lucky Nanny (Jane) got to be present at her birth and called us in tears just a few minutes after. She will be in the NICU for at least 24 hours but as far as we know is doing fine, as is her mama. No pics yet, but stay tuned ... congrats to Amy, Todd, & big brother Jack.
