58 Camels

  • I wanted to share some quotes from the last week, but I'm too lazy to write down who said what ... use your imagination:

  • Whoa! That fire truck ladder is longer than 58 camels!
  • We do not run around the playground until our pants are pulled up.
  • I like my old blue rope better. (Though he used the new white one to climb 30 feet up the side of a pine tree.)
  • OOH! Ed's burning, I need to go. Can I eat a snack at his house?
  • What time does the tooth fairy come? I better hurry up and rot my teeth out.
  • No you may not have another banana. Go to your own house and get a snack. Don't you know we're in a recession? (Note: This was not said to precious Annie, pictured here. It was to a certain boy neighbor who kept dropping his bananas.)

    I did it!

I cut FIVE inches off my hair and this is the result (on the left). I'm much happier now, see?

Almost as astounding as the swimming.

This is my 550th try at posting this video.

    It's worth it.

I'm pretty sure they weren't sad to see us go.

The Goose and I just returned from Austin, wherein there was fighting, whining, baby bouncing, fighting, whining, baby bouncing. Lather, rinse, repeat.

    I seriously considered a drop-in, strip-mall daycare.

Oh, but Lucy. Sweet, precious Lucy. It was all I could do not to sneak her on the plane.

Ame and I have vowed not to do this again until there are grandparents around to referee.
Herding CatsThis foot-in-the-lens-squish-the-baby shot is my favorite pic of the trip. So appropos.
Good night, and click here to see videos.

    Some thoughts ...

    • My kid -- despite FOUR prescription drugs -- is still coughing.
    • Applied kinesiology is our next stop on the Asthma Tour.
    • Wish me luck at the TN TESOL conference tomorrow, where I am part of a panel discussion regarding ESL issues from a community college perspective.
    • Should I cut my hair this short again?
    • I am one day away from Spring Break.
    • Today I witnessed a colleague tell another colleague to "zip it."
    • My kid is still coughing.
    • My kid is currently on FOUR prescription allergy/asthma meds. Oh. I already said that. Right.
    • FOUR.
    • Hey out there ... all you Applied Kinesiologists ... any appointments for, um, NOW?
    • Kid.
    • Still.
    • Coughing.
    • Did I say before that he is still coughing even though he is on oral AND inhaled steroids, Singulair, AND Albuterol as needed?
    • Sometimes I feel like I have a special-needs child.
    • Sometimes I think I need to be happy that it's not something much, much worse.
    • I would sell my soul to make him stop.
    • I swear to make a more concerted effort to post with more positive energy next time.

    Drug List

He can't make it without drugs. We tried. He didn't breathe. We didn't sleep. Now he's on Xoponex, Pulmicort, Singulair, AND Orapred.

How I long for the good ole days ...

    Heat Packin' Thumb Sucker

Grandaddy's right: He's big bad John.

Tonight I was instructed to wait by the Hot Wheels track ... he'd be right back. Then I heard the silverware drawer open and there was shuffling. I got up, walked into the kitchen, and found him digging around in there. "What are you doing?"

"I'm just sorting these a little better."

    I try. I really do.

But he would rather drop hot wheels down a stack of toilet paper rolls than connect the dots.
